International arbitration in Bermuda: what are the benefits?

The Bermuda law firm Sedgwick Chudleigh recently published a paper explaining some of the benefits of conducting international arbitrations in Bermuda. The paper is worth reading in full, for its analysis of both the practical benefits and the legal benefits of international arbitrations in Bermuda.

Although Bermuda does not yet house a designated Commercial Arbitration Centre (a topic which has been the subject of some discussion over the years, as other jurisdictions improve their offerings in this respect), Bermuda is able to offer a variety of arbitration facilities at its major hotels, office suites, and even in the Commercial Court premises in Hamilton. There is also a local Bermuda branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, whose members have a wide range of experience of both international and domestic arbitrations.
