Chariots of Fire is arguably one of the best sporting movies of all time, set in 1920s England.
The movie has an interesting Bermuda connection, in that one of the fictional characters in the movie, Lord Lindsay (played by Nigel Havers), was based on the real-life Lord Burghley, who was otherwise known as David Cecil, the 6th Marquess of Exeter, an MP for Peterborough.
He was appointed to act as Bermuda’s Governor between 1943 and 1945.
Something to bear in mind the next time you find yourself running on a Bermuda beach, imagining yourself in the opening scene of Chariots of Fire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLbWBlB2aWA
