The Cayman Islands has recently repealed the Confidential Relationships (Preservation) Law, and replaced it with the Confidential Information Disclosure Law 2016.
The main changes are that:
- it is now no longer a criminal offence to disclose confidential information;
- there is now a “whistle-blower” defence available to persons that disclose confidential information in certain circumstances.
