Although it sometimes seems like an expensive luxury for a jurisdiction with a population of about 65,000 to have two Houses of Parliament, the House of Assembly and the Senate, there have been a number of occasions recently when the (appointed) Senate has proved itself to be a worthwhile ‘check’ and ‘balance’ on the decisions being made by the (elected) House of Assembly.
